A Brief History
Rowlett is located on the shores of Lake Ray
Hubbard with parts in both Dallas and Rockwall County. The name comes from Rowlett Creek which runs through the town and feeds into the Trinity River. Rowlett started out as a thriving farm community with just 84 citizens, but it now has a population of around 68,000.
The Culture
Rowlett has more than 30 miles of shoreline, making outdoor activities such as kayaking and fishing popular. There are many city-wide entertainment events for citizens that foster the close-knit community. The city is home to several lakeside parks and trails often enjoyed by families that showcase the nature of Rowlett.
The goal of this project was to create an Olympic brand and motif based on our hometown. My project was based on Rowlett, Texas. The shape of the leaves for the brand mark come from the outline of Lake Ray Hubbard located in Rowlett. The motif is based on the large bluebonnet field located in the heart of Rowlett and featured on many murals.
